Let’s all recite the North Central Louisiana TEA Party Patriots Candidate Pledge!
I hereby pledge to:
Support and defend the U.S. Constitution as originally intended by the Founders and as explained in the “Federalist Papers.”
Let’s take that one apart; “as originally intended by the Founders” is as slippery a slope as any to start. Who can say what was “originally intended”? The Federalist Papers is a series of essays (written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison) expanding upon facets of the Constitution, but is in no way a complete codification of it. This is nothing but basing one’s opinions on wishful thinking.
Act in a fiscally responsible manner: Decrease the size and scope of government on all levels–local, state, and federal; Decrease spending on all levels–local, state and federal; Work toward a balanced budget.
Ya got me on that one. Voting down extension of unemployment benefits, and helping to defeat bills that would give economic breaks to working-class folk–yep, that’ll cut that spending right down. Wanting to preserve Dubya’s tax breaks to the wealthy is another step in the right wrong direction.
Support the free market by lower taxes and fees on businesses and individuals: support only those regulations that enhance competition.
…except for that lovely bribes campaign contributions made by BP to most of the Louisiana legislature, hey?
Conduct myself personally and professionally in a moral and socially appropriate manner.
Let’s all notice that Senator David “Diaper” Vitter, serial adulterer and devotee of prostitutes, is a signatory.
