Arizonan Karen Brianin has hepatitis C, which has destroyed her liver. Her doctor has stated that without a transplant she will die.
She applied to the state Medicaid office for the procedure, and the request was taken under consideration.
She is now being told that her request has been rejected by the Republican-run administration because it is “not cost-effective”.
