Rick “Good Hair” Perry on money

Texas Governor Rick Perry on the constitutionality of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid:

“I don’t think our founding fathers when they were putting the term ‘general welfare’ in there were thinking about a federally operated program of pensions nor a federally operated program of health care. What they clearly said was that those were issues that the states need to address. Not the federal government. I stand very clear on that. From my perspective, the states could substantially better operate those programs if that’s what those states decided to do.”

Tell us that again, Mr. Perry, only this time hold a sign over your head that mentions the $27 billion shortfall (up from the $13 billion you claimed originally) your state underwent last year. Oh, and don’t forget to mention how you sorta fixed that–by sucking up all the stimulus money that the federal government gave Texas.

Seems to me you and God are alike in at least one way: neither of you handle money very well.
