Here’s to Mr. Hitchens

My favorite Hitchslap: “That which can asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.”

Here’s your morning dose, video-style!

I mourn the passing of the gentleman. He was abrasive, and I didn’t always agree with him, but his arguments were difficult to refute and compelling to watch and read.

    Awesome video. Thanks for sharing..

Hitchens really encapsulated perfectly the concept of the religious death wish. When you look at it objectively as Hitchens has done here the negative anti-human side of religion becomes so clear.

Here is another quote from Hitchens that I like:

“Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the ‘transcendent’ and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don’t be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.”
    ― Christopher Hitchens

  2. …and here’s an opportunity to apply Mr. Hitchen’s points.
