Voter ID laws, or The Return of Jim Crow

Rock it, Garry!

We’ve got that voter ID crapola going on in Minnesota this November.

While I understand voters’ concerns about fraud, the sudden rabidity with which voter ID efforts are being pushed makes the entire effort suspicious. It smells like astroturfing efforts, not grassroots sentiments.

There are no verifiable instances of voter fraud that amount to more than 1% of total votes, even in local and state election (much less the federal level). The entire voter ID drama was generated by ALEC and its efforts on the part of conservatives who think that they have to rig the table in order to win elections.

And that says something about them, doesn’t it?
