Yesterday’s plenty from (mostly) our gardens

The Spouse® went full bore yesterday, canning up a storm.

The plums were ours; the peaches were not. (We’re too far north for dependable peach production.) The green beans were not ours (we didn’t plant enough), but the peppers, garlic, and dill in the dilly beans are ours.

Left to right: dilly beans, plum jam, and peach jam. Cameo appearance: the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving (lower left corner)

There is something emotionally satisfying about canning your own food. There is something morally satisfying about supplying your family and friends with food that you *know* is wholesome and clean (i.e., no chemicals and no genetic modification).
