1. Keep them afraid.
Cast fear to the masses. Predict dire circumstances if the current presidential administration is allowed to stay in power. Claim that your children will be forced to become gay, and that you’ll be forced to watch same-sex marriages in your church, and that people who have faiths different from yours take over control of your religious beliefs. Keep claiming that FEMA concentration camps are in Montana, and are just waiting to be used by the current administration to keep “dissidents” in line.
2. Keep them isolated.
Feed people mindless “reality” entertainment. Give them video games and mindless movies where the good guys always win no matter what the odds. Encourage them to stay at home and not to read or think for themselves. Give children educations that consist of only how to pass standardized tests and doesn’t teach them how to think.
3. Keep them desperate.
Play politics with the country’s debt limit and government spending for programs such as Head Start and Planned Parenthood. Cut budgets for health care for the poor and elderly, and claim that it’s for their own good. Play politics with hunger and security and safety, all in the name of “the people”.
4. Send out the jackboots.
Remove habeas corpus as the law of the land. Create the Patriot Act, which removes constitutional protections from its citizens. Create a state where law enforcement can snatch anyone off the street and never reveal who they’ve taken, where they are, and even whether they’re even alive or not–forever. Create a fear-filled political atmosphere in which, as George Carlin observed, “You have no rights. Rights are an illusion.”
5. Blame everything on the truthseekers.
Refuse to consider hard facts. Claim that facts are manufactured and slanted to disagree with what you have been told is the truth. Listen to the demagogues who give you talking points that you can parrot to “prove” that the opposition is right. Prove that Orwell was right when he said “Ignorance is strength!” in his novel 1984.
6. Encourage citizen spies.
Get the Andrew Breitbarts and James O’Keefes and Lila Roses of our country to “uncover” moral corruption by making and then heavily editing videos to try to discredit ACORN and Planned Parenthood stop the poor from finding safe, affordable housing, keep the poor from getting help obtaining birth control materials, STI tests, and sex education.
7. Make them accept the unacceptable.
Keep the electorate reeling from blow after blow at civil liberties until it accepts any outrage thrown at it. Reelect crack addicts as mayor of Washington DC. Elect a man convicted of massive ($600 million) Medicare cheats as governor of Florida. Allow the governor of Wisconsin to obfuscate the process of getting proper ID for voting, and then close down multiple DMV offices in small towns in order to prevent disadvantaged people from getting the IDs.
